Lunch dates with friends are basically a form of therapy for me at this point in my life, and I do take full advantage of the affordability of lunch sets in Japan.  Hello, less than $15 for a four or five course lunch?  Sign me up!

Because today was an early release day for the elementary school kids, our lunch date had a very specific expiration time.  We HAD to be back on base around 12:30 when the kids are let out of school.  Our obvious choice was ramen–quick, easy, and delicious but we deviated from our game plan as soon as someone mentioned “Italian” and “pretty fast.”

10428487_671760700894_499043533467563665_nMy friend’s ham and mushroom pasta.  According to my friend, delicious:  perfect, thin slices of ham with a light cream sauce.

11060267_671760660974_506566743592149745_nAnother friend’s teriyaki chicken pizza.  It was sooo good, potato and all.  Yes, they have regular pizzas (three cheese, margherita pizza, etc), but I’m so glad we tried this.

So did we get back in time to get our kids?  Yes!  We left base at 11:00, got there at 11:15, ordered by 11:30 and were back to base by 12:30.  Of course, we were scarfing it down and speaking really fast!  Next time we’ll slow down–but it’s great to know that if we’re ever in a time crunch, Bistro Café Trois is a viable option.  Service was great and there was hardly any wait for the food to come out.  We were all impressed.

Bistro Café Trois definitely made it on my “must return” list of restaurants.  It’s close to base (near Nafco) and very easy to find.
